Oh jeez, I have to talk about Bubsy now. Bubsy, Bubsy, Bubsy, how do I hate you, may I count the ways.
1) Your SNES, Genesis, and Jaguar games (Bubsy, Bubsy II, and Bubsy In Fractured Furry Tales) are almost decent games… except you control like a Scooby-Doo villain slipping on a banana peel while doused with baby oil while standing on an ice rink. If I manage to get your horrible controls down, it doesn’t help me much, because you keep dying for no apparent reason or there’s a million just plain cheap deaths set up.
2) You’re a completely unlikable attempt of a cool character who needs to seriously stop saying “What COULD possibly go wrong” all the damn time. Seriously, not only does he say it a million times in the game and cartoon pilot, they even titled the pilot “What Could Possibly Go Wrong”. Fuck, I named this storyline that too. Because my brain felt I couldn’t have Bubsy without that annoying phrase.
3) Your games play like a horrible cross between Mario and Sonic, except made by someone who never even played either games and just read an article about them in EGM. Making you like the illegitimate son of Mario and Sonic, except beat to the point of retardation because Mommy Sonic didn’t like him and Daddy Mario kept feeding him whisky to shut him up.
4) Bubsy 3D for Playstation is quite possibly one of the most laughably horrible games ever made. Seriously! Look at it… LOOK AT IT!!! Everything negative I said about the previous games go fifty times more for this game. It’s just… horrifying. HORRIFYING! THE HORRORS! THE HORRORS!
5) The GOD DAMNED Bubsy pilot cartoon. They made a single episode of a Bubsy cartoon to shop around as a pilot. They decided (for some weird reason) to show the pilot on Thanksgiving to see if people enjoyed it and to test it out for a series. Despite having a rather all star cast, and Bubsy being the only Rob Paulsen voiced character I don’t like, a series was never made. THANK GOD. Because this cartoon is ranks as one of the worse cartoons I’ve ever seen, and definitely up their with Mutant League, Darkstalkers, and Sonic Underground as one of the worst video game based cartoons I’ve ever seen. Possibly worse than all of those… but I’m not going to secure that opinion since I have no plans (AT ALL) to rewatch any of those shows ever again.
The problems with the Bubsy cartoon starts with the opening, the opening is just a mismash of random nonsense that by itself can put you into a fit of rage. Just look at it! Not only is that whole thing Poochie level annoying to the point of making the SatAM version of Sonic (the character, not the show, because the show is pretty awesome) seem tolerable, but that dance he does is mind boggling stupid. Let’s look at it again, shall we.
This animated GIF alone can induce rage. I once showed it to Green Wiggly, and it induced so much rage in him, that he was unable to update All Over Migglie for months. I also heard he kicked a Mudkip all Cobra Commander style.
If that dance wasn’t bad enough, the show is filled with an entire cast of completely unlikable characters, half ass animation, a script that makes absolutely little to no sense, and an overall production that was just plain lame, terrible, and mind bogglingly stupid. I hear this cartoon is also used as torture in some countries, it’s that bad, but don’t take my word for it, watch it yourself! Oh why, Paulsen, why?!
Well, this article has gone overboard, so I’ll end this with another Zetaplays video and a link to the Bubsy article on Hardcore Gaming 101. They also have the cartoon for download there… if you dare. So next time you hear someone say something about Bubsy, punch them in the face, they probably deserve it.
As I’ve said before, I liked the first two Bubsy games, despite being incredibly difficult (hey, I like a challenge). I wasn’t to thrilled with Bubsy 3D. As far as I know, I’ve never played Fractured Fairy Tales (never had a Jaguar).
Most people didn’t have a Jaguar. :p
I just hate Bubsy because of his artwork/pose when he’s not moving. Look at him. Watch that ZetaPlays video and look for the few times Bubsy’s not moving. He just looks so smug. Bubsy, you have nothing to be smug about. I wanna clean his clock…
Also, I actually own a DVD of the Darkstalkers cartoon, and it is probably the most terrible thing I own. The artwork is terrible. I’m glad it only contains, like, four episodes, so I didn’t have to see the ruination they made of Hsien-ko.

Being unconscious for half a week straight and copious amounts of blood are also the side-effects of too much Bubsy. Are we sure that it was a normal spiked Margarita and not a, I dunno, Bubsgarita?

Ugh you should see the double dragon show not only does it have little refrence to the game itself (he even said fighting is never the answer HA) but it has some little black kid …. I wish I was given a sword at the start of that game
As someone who has passed Bubsy, all I can say is, I never had that many problems when playing it, and I used to zoom across levels.
I don’t remember it running so poorly (or the audio being so bad either), though I did play it on the SNES, not Sega whatever.
Oh and the Good the Bad and the Woolies Bubsy Quote was “Well it worked for Clint”
